Web argument

I would first like to say I liked this project and would have rather of done it the way we did than writing a paper with just a pencil and paper. I first researched and found most of the information I was going to use on my paper from various sites. After I had most of my information for my web argument found I decided to make the dream weaver part of the project. I started with a basic layout with colors that wouldn’t affect the reader’s attention or ability to read my text then added some buttons, links and made sure they all worked. After I had my dream weaver part of the project finished I went to work on the typed part of the web argument. I typed it up in Microsoft word to make sure I had enough words and got most of the spelling and grammar errors. After I had finished the word portion I transferred each part to dream weaver and changed the font and size to go with the project. From there added pictures, a video, a podcast and my sources to finish it all up. For the most part I am pretty proud of the whole project the design and the word portion of it and glad it all came together as nice as I did. The only thing I wish I could have done is found another video to add to it and get a power point together if I had more time. As for this project I feel that I did the best on this one out of all the projects we did in this class but just wish we would have had a little more time to put the project together in class. We should have had more time on the peer reviews so that we could of seen what others thought about our projects and changed what they didn’t like or fix our little errors. For the most part its been a good class and I didn’t mind the projects really because they were a lot better than just writing regular papers all day. So thanks and good bye.

Claim and Evidence

For our next project we had to come up with a argument and claim with evidence. The claim I went with was why do people illegally download music. Which can be a argumentative claim so i had to come up with some evidence why people download music. One example of some evidence is "students who share or steal music downloaded off the Internet do so because they feel morally justified and believe others are doing it even more, rather than because of economic reasons, and these perceptions help make illegal downloading a habitual and sometimes even addictive behavior." That should be enough evidence to hold you off till I finish my paper, I don't want to give away my whole paper now.

My most recent arguement

My most recent argument was last night at the Blackhawks game when my friends and I spotted a Detroit Red Wings fan and yell Detroit sucks. After that the Detroit fan started off by saying whens the last time the Blackhawks won a championship. When the Detroit fan said that our response was were beating you right now and going to make it to the play offs and win it this year. Then after that was said the Detroit fan didn't really have much to say so as we told her to go back to Detroit as she walked back to her seat. So we for sure won that argument and just went back to watching the hawks kill Detroit.

Reflection Blog

This blog is about my latest project the multimodal project. In which we had to use different sources to get our points across to the reader like typed text, a power point and a podcast. When doing this project you had to take a lot of things into mind such as the audience. The audience that I took into mind was of course our teacher and everyone else in the class but also any one who would be interested or knows anything about pirating music in my case. As for the design I went with a simple layout just so no one gets confused and is easy on the eyes. Also have the links easy to find and the in text links obvious that they are there. Which goes along with the organization of my project which I wanted to be easily followed and flow from one page to the next so the reader doesn’t get confused with the direction I was trying to go in. after taking all those things in aspect it is hopefully easy for the reader to follow along and a well suited for the reader. Some of the parts I think I did particularly good on is the typed text I came up for the project which took some time and research to find and put in the right wording. I’m like the ease in which you can find my text go from one subject to the next. One of the only things I wish I had more time on would have been the layout as far as how good it looks. And just wish I had a little more knowledge on the podcasts since I have never done one before would have helped me out a bit. That’s probably one of the only technical aspects I wasn’t really good with or had any experience with. As for the sources and research all came pretty easy since it is a pretty well known and debated topic all over the world. So all in all the project was alright just thought we should have had a little more time with the project.

research topic

For my topic of research I wanted to do something with music since I listen to it from when I wake up till when I fall asleep at night. And something that has become a problem with music is illegally downloading it offline. So the topic I choose was illegally downloaded music and the technology behind it. Since illegally downloading music has recently has really just started I decided to look into it more deeply and see whats actually going on. And why people dont just buy the cds of the bands the love and listen to. So now Im looking to answer the questions on what is illegally downloading music, who started it where its going. Im also looking into the penalties when you are caught and how they know for sure that you are downloading music when you get the presses charged. Also to really find out if it’s a serious problem or just some musicians complaining over a few lost dollars on album sales over a few thousand downloads of their songs. So hopefully after looking more in-depth I can answer these questions and find the true problems behind illegally downloading music if there is any.

Peer review

Presentation
1. Is the hypertext essay well-designed? If yes, give a detailed explanation why. If no, describe in detail, how the author can improve the design of his/her hypertext essay.

The hypertext essay was pretty well designed the only that caught my eye was the background drew your attention to it but besides that it was well put together. The colors and layout was put together nice but just had a few words that were the same color of the background.

2. Is the hypertext essay easy to navigate? If yes, give a detailed explanation why. If no, describe in detail how the author can improve his hypertext essay navigation.

The essay was really easy to follow all the links were easily located and could be found in the summary or on the bottom of the page.

3. Are the hyperlinks working? If no, which link(s) need to be fixed?

All the links were working and took you where you needed to go.

Informational Needs of Audience
1. Has the author clearly identified him/herself? If yes, where in the hypertext can the reader find this information? If no, suggest a good location for his/her name. Does the author have a title for his/her hypertext essay? If yes, where in title located? If no, suggest a title.

Yes, you can find the authors name on the first page of the summary so you notice it right under the title.

2. In the summary, has the article and the author of the article been identified by name? Is the author’s name linked to the Works Cited page?

Yup both are easily located on the first page in the summary.

3. From the summary, does the reader have a clear idea of the article’s content? Briefly describe what you think is the gist of the article. As a reader, do you feel more or less information should be included in the summary part?

I would have to say Charlotte had a good Idea cover the article and was a good amount of words so the reader didn’t get bored reading it.

4. Describe what you perceive to be the author’s thesis. Is it clear to the reader? If not, how can it be made clearer?
The author’s thesis is that people are becoming more distant and worried about financial gain.

1. Are the supporting response sections of the hypertext relevant and meaningful as individual sections, yet related to the summary? If yes, describe in detail why. If no, make suggestions how these sections can be improved.
All the responses are covered right from the thesis statement so you know she did a good job.

2. Visit the sources that the author has linked to in the essay. Has the author successfully supported the thesis throughout the hypertext with informative and reliable outside sources? If yes, describe why these outside sources are informative and reliable. If no, why are these outside sources not informative and reliable (or has the author failed to do this at all)? Do you think more or less supporting information is needed?

Charlotte had the reliable sources like CBS so you know it was a reliable source. Since CBS has all the four points we covered in class that make cites reliable especially its authority.

3. Has the author successfully employed rhetorical devices in the response? If yes, how? If no, make suggestions how the author can do so.

Charlotte had rhetorical devices in her responses with a lot of good points being brought up and with good sources to back it up.

4. Does the author demonstrate a strong control of the conventions of academic discourse, i.e. format, syntax, paragraph structure, punctuation, mechanics, diction, documentation? If not, point out one or two representative examples of areas the writer should work on (do not proofread the essay).

After just reading through it once I didn’t notice any academic discourse you might find a few if you scan through it a couple of times but for the most part it was perfect.
